Grid Computing

This Global Tier 1 Bank seeks an expert with Grid Computing technology to support the banks high-performance grid computing infrastructure. It executes compute-intensive tasks in parallel across thousands of server and desktop CPUs shared between dozens of applications. In order to ensure optimal utilization of the infrastructure, maintain efficient operating procedures and expand the usage of CBB to other lines-of-business (LOBs) within the firm; we are looking for 2 resources to lead onboarding and support efforts in the APAC region.

Job Description

The Grid Computing Support Engineer is responsible for the operation and integration support of the CBB Development, UAT, DR, and Production environments (24 x7 with an SLA of 5 nines uptime). The Singapore team will work closely with the CBB support team in NY to ensure high standards of support are maintained and in some cases adapted for users of each service. The Support Engineers are expected to establish new client relationships (internal) while maintaining existing local relationships.

The team is also responsible for the onboarding & integration of CBB services to new groups within JPMC. CBB focuses on the integration and operation of grid computing solutions across several LOB’s. The SE will work with developers, architects, system administrators, and DBAs to support the construction and implementation of open source and commercial products used within the CBB. These solutions will involve the integration of various disparate systems with a variety of APIs. The core technology currently in use by CBB is Symphony (Platform) and Condor (Open Source), along with a host of secondary components and integration elements.

A solid grounding in the full lifecycle of application development and in particular the supporting elements that enable and enhance the integration of disparate systems is needed for the job, particularly Unix, Linux, Windows, Perl, Python, TCP/IP, Networking, Monitoring, and Ant, as well as a variety of supporting tools. Flexibility and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems is key, and familiarity with Open Source solutions is a big plus. A working knowledge of Java and various components of the J2EE stack, including J2SE, JUnit, Tomcat, Weblogic, Spring, Eclipse, Maven, and JMS queues is necessary.

Exposure to Grid computing solutions such as Symphony (Platform), Data Synapse and Condor is preferred. The ability to learn new technologies quickly in a self-driven manner is critical

Responsibilities:

· Provide primary operational support for the CBB

· Provide primary integration support for onboarding of new clients to the CBB

· Support, Maintain, and Troubleshoot Unix and Linux based services, including Apache, Apache James, Message Buses, Symphony (Platform), Condor, Unix/Linux Scripting using Perl and Python

· General server monitoring and maintenance of several 24/7 highly-visible clusters

· Participate in analysis and design of future services and application integrations onto the CBB

· Assist in the support and distribution of various API’s and components that CBB provides and supports (Symphony, Southbeach)

Qualifications:

· Operations support and troubleshooting experience including Server Configuration, Monitoring, and Scripting.

· Experience with production support of highly visible, mission-critical, and highly available financial applications

· Advanced Internet security, SSO, application deployment, fail-over knowledge

· Development experience with Java and C++

· Deep knowledge of Unix/Linux/Windows and Shell/Perl/Python/Ant scripting

· Strong technical background in networking, operating system, system administration and performance monitoring

· Experience with Monitoring solutions, such as Sitescope, Tivoli, Nagios, etc.

· Full Development lifecycle and support tool experience using CVS, Subversion, Ant, Maven, Eclipse, etc…

· Experience with QA procedures and quality control of production applications

· Development of n-tier web applications with distributed components

· Relational DB Development and/or Administration experience, primarily Oracle but also Sybase, PostgreSQL

· Experience functioning as part of a software team, good communicator

· Self-motivated and Responsible, able to own and drive a project when necessary

· Extraordinary Troubleshooter with ability to diagnose and support mission-critical systems

· Strong Documentation ability


Optional:

· Investment Banking Experience

· Grid Computing experience highly desired (Symphony, Tundra, Condor, Data Synapse)

· Clustering (Tight, Loose, Beowulf) experience

· GUI (Struts, Sprint MVC, JSF, AJAX, Eclipse) development experience
